Index Calculation

NASDAQ OMX calculates and disseminates indexes real-time and end-of-day in price return and total return variations. NASDAQ OMX also calculates and disseminates indexes that are broad market, industry sector, country or theme-based and across different currencies.

NASDAQ OMX also handles the administration of indexes for ongoing maintenance and continuity. Index administration requires daily review and maintenance to ensure the integrity of all the indexes NASDAQ OMX calculates and disseminates. We track corporate actions daily to determine potential component or share changes and offsetting divisor adjustments. Week-to-week, we monitor total shares outstanding and schedule share changes to index components, as necessary, in relation to the relevant index thresholds.
