NASDAQ OMX Commodities

A leading offer for energy related derivatives

With NASDAQ OMX Commodities we are creating a financial centre for energy related derivatives in the Nordics. NASDAQ OMX Commodities is a new business area built on the recently completed acquisition of Nord Pool’s international derivatives products, clearing operations and consulting services. NASDAQ OMX Commodities owns and gets revenues (trading fees) from all the derivatives contracts traded on the Nord Pool power exchange platform except from the Nordic contracts (still owned by Nord Pool). NASDAQ OMX Commodities also gets clearing revenues based on all existing Nord Pool contracts, including exchange and OTC-trades.

Our ambition is to create a global leader in energy derivatives and carbon products, by combining Nord Pool’s footprint in the energy market with NASDAQ OMX’s global distribution capabilities and world-leading technology platform.

Creating a global leader in carbon and energy products

The combined offering will be in a unique position to offer cross-market trading in multiple asset classes, and also to introduce new commodity products to our existing portfolio. The NASDAQ OMX Commodities offering is designed for banks, brokers, hedge funds and other financial institutions, as well as power utilities, industry, manufacturing and oil companies. When searching for alternative investment possibilities, hedging power contracts, buying/ selling emissions allowances and carbon quotas or when seeking reduction of employed capital, counterparty risk and administration, NASDAQ OMX Commodities will offer access to Europe’s largest and most successful power market place.

Offering trading at Europe’s most liquid power exchange
