Events hosted by the NASDAQ OMX Nordic Foundation
NASDAQ OMX Nordic Foundation supports scientific research and other initiatives that enhances the prosperity of financial markets in Finland and Sweden. To provide impetus for increased competence and competitiveness in these markets, the Foundation arranges, when appropriate, events that offer a plattform for information sharing and discussion among market participants around the research funded by the Foundation.

Market manipulation seminar
Attorney-at-law Mårten Knuts presented the first Nordic jurisprudential doctoral thesis on market manipulation. In addition, NASDAQ OMX Nordic Surveillance unit Heads discussed trading surveillance at the exchange and the local Financial Supervisory Authority commented market manipulation from the supervisory authority’s perspective

Females and risk-taking
Professor Sami Vähämaa presented research project “Females and Corporate Governance” and discussed whether a CEO, CFO, board member and auditor’s gender affects a company’s result management, governance and auditing costs. Can an inherent, gender-based difference in risk-taking be the cause?
Board members with criminal convictions
Henrik Nilsson from the Stockholm School of Economics presented his research about board members in Swedish listed companies who have been convicted of crimes, and the connection between previously convicted board members and the profitability and risk level of their companies. Magnus Billing, Chief Legal Counsel for NASDAQ OMX in Europe participated, along with Helena Levander, CEO of Nordic Investor Service.
